Jason Evans - Trumpet
Principal Trumpet Philharmonia Orchestra
Born on the Isle of Man, Jason began to play the cornet at the age of six. A student at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, Jason was also principal trumpet of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
He went on to graduate with a first class honours degree and the Queen's Award for Excellence from the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Mark David, Paul Beniston and John Hutchins.
In September 2014 the Royal Academy appointed him to the position of James Watson Associate Professor of Trumpet and in 2016 he became a Professor of Trumpet at the Royal College of Music, where he takes an active role in the development of the trumpet and brass departments as a whole.
Appearing as Guest Principal Trumpet with the Gabrieli Consort, the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as well as appearing with the Halle Orchestra, Onyx Brass and SuperBrass, Jason has performed throughout Europe, the Americas, Australasia and across Asia.
Principal trumpet of the Philharmonia Orchestra since 2012, Jason is also a founding member of an award winning London-based brass quintet, Inner City Brass.
