Jessica O'Leary- Violin
Principal violinist, string consultant and examiner for ABRSM
Jessica has a persuasive portfolio career combining performing, teaching, seminar presenting, mentoring string teachers and writing violin tutor books.
She was a member of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields for twenty-five years and is Principal 2nd violin with the Orchestra of St. John’s while regularly playing with the Royal Opera House.
She is a string consultant and examiner for ABRSM and regularly presents seminars to teachers in the UK and Asia.
Her Best of Grade 1-5 violin books and Violin Studies are published by Faber, she is a mentor on the ESTA (European String Teacher’s Association) PGCE teaching course and her articles are frequently published in international music magazines.
Following fifteen years as professor at Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she is now Head of Strings at a London Independent School and specialises in teaching early learners to Grade 8.
Jessica is passionate about playing and teaching music in a variety of styles and has worked with Madonna, Led Zeppelin, the London Symphony Orchestra and various chamber ensembles.
She has performed in a variety of venues including Carnegie and Wigmore Halls, Sydney and Royal Opera Houses as well as pop arenas in London and Dubai.
She studied in Ireland with Adrian Petcu before gaining a post-graduate scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music where she was recently made an Associate (ARAM) in recognition of her services to music.
