Liz Partridge - Violin
Freelance London Violinist
Liz was educated musically as a junior at the Royal Academy of Music and then went on a scholarship to study violin and piano at Trinity College of Music. At college she co - founded the Court String Quartet, in which she played for a number of years.
Jobs at the BBC and at ENO followed, and her subsequent position was as a sub - principal first violin at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, where she had the great fortune to work with world class singers and renowned conductors such as Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti, Carlos Kleiber and Bernard Haitink, among many others.
Subsequently, a freelance career gave her access not only to concert halls around the world, but also studios and west end theatres in London, working again with the best in their fields in jazz and show music, as well as the classical genre.
Teaching has always featured in her portfolio and she coaches both children and adults, which informs her work for Trinity as an examiner, for whom still travels widely.
Recent recordings have included work with the choir and organist of the Royal Military Academy chapel at Sandhurst, and recordings of the new Trinity violin syllabus.
She is active in promoting and leading concerts in her local church and is currently also in the process of commissioning a set of string quartets for young (and not so young) people, with Boosey and Hawkes.
