In demand as a principal orchestral player and as a chamber musician world wide, Sarah Burnett is one of the most respected bassoonists of her generation.

In a career full of variety and diversity, Scottish born bassoonist, Sarah Burnett is one of London’s most lyrical, successful and highly regarded wind players.

Her early years saw a place at Chetham’s School of Music, followed by scholarships to Cambridge University, the Royal Academy of Music and to study with Klaus Thunemann in Hannover, Germany. She was also Principal Bassoon in both the National Youth Orchestra of GB and the European Union Youth Orchestra.

Currently Principal Bassoon with the Britten Sinfonia and the London Mozart Players, Sarah is in demand as a Guest Principal with most of the major UK orchestras which takes her to venues and festivals world wide and allows her to work with conductors and soloists of great renown.

No stranger to the session world, Sarah can be heard on films such as Harry Potter and Les Miserables, TV programmes which include Frozen Planet, the Human Universe and Doctor Who as well as on albums and on tour with Peter Gabriel.

Now the coach of the bassoon section of the National Youth Orchestra of GB, Sarah has become one of the most respected teachers of the bassoon in the UK.
